Pharmacy, Nursing and Medical students over 30 years, and received very
high formal student evaluation scores every year
- Won the College of Pharmacy Educator of the Year award six times,
more than any other faculty member in the Arizona Health Science Center
Research
- Obtained more than 2.2 million dollars in research grant funds
- Authored/co-authored more than 100 research publications in
leading scientific and medical books and journals (including Science,
the Journal of the American Medical Association, European Neurology,
and the New England Journal of Medicine)
- Recognized as a world-renown authority on the neuropharmacology of marijuana (i.e., the effects of marijuana on the brain)
- Acknowledged at the world’s expert on medical marijuana in
neurological disorders (i.e., the effects of marijuana in patients with
epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, spinal injury and movement disorders)
Service
- Co-Founder of, and Consultant to, the Arizona Drug and Poison
Information Center, Tucson AZ (which currently is staffed full time by
four emergency room physicians, eight clinical pharmacists, and scores
of other “on-call” specialists and experts, and operates 24
hours a day, 365 days a year, and receives more than 70,000 calls per
year)
